This month of May 2020, brings us to introduce another of our residents, Ricky Browning. Ricky was born in February of 1956 in Mankato, MN. He spent his first year there before moving with his family to Madison Lake, then rural Kasota, then St. Peter. He grew up with five brothers and three sisters and went to school, through the fourth grade, in Kasota, at which time the school closed and he was transferred to St. Peter, where he graduated in 1974.

Ricky continued his education at Mankato State getting his degree in Home Ec & Food Service Management. Ricky had numerous occupationsover the years including managing a Happy Chef, working as a groundskeeper, working at Dotson’s Metal Fabricators, Spartech, and delivering newspapers and periodicals for his brother’s company near Chicago.

Throughout his life, Ricky enjoyed being an official for many youth sports teams including baseball, football, basketball and softball. He also enjoyed history and reading novels. When Ricky retired, he moved back to the area with his brother to be near more family. The past few years his health was declining, and he was having some falls. His health care professional thought he should move into an assisted living facility to be safer. “I haven’t had a problem at all while being here!” he says.
